This is Butterfly, she knows just what to do to birth this baby.Alpacas love their herd mates, and are keenly interested in every detail of birth.Lots of information being gathered here, far more than any of us know!this is a hard part, once you get to this point the baby is born soonButterfly looks around, thinking boy? girl? how big is this baby anyway! Whew!coming soonloving caretakers prepare a clean and soft landing for the new cria just ready to make the big drop to the ground.great shot! We did it, nice landing!Butterfly and Aunt Lacey greet the newbornafter stretching and wiggling around the first thing the baby does is figure out how to get sternal or cushed into position. They gather their body parts up and learn balance.big kisses from MOM!Time for Papa Alpaca to weigh this very big baby! I heard them call me a MOOSE?oohh out to the sunshine, green grass and warmth! What a beautiful day. The herd  really loves me! got to try the new legs for sure! and down again. This seems to be happening alot! Get ready for round 2!  up again with all the cheer leaders and lot of kisses so many kisses that.....it can be hard to stay standing!!!Now the herd gives the baby some space so they can get a better look.Momy loves me soooh much!I am just gleaming in the sunshine!got to figure out this nursing stuff... somewhere up herehmm. I think I tried too hard!finally I got it, and now time to be proud   and hang out with my awesome moma little rest and WEEEE, Love these new legs they are awesome! Here I am a little more grown, with my best friend and my brother the King! 
Life is great where we live, I hope all alpacas get to have a life like this!
